Geeteara Shafiya Choudhury is newly appointed as Adviser for Industries Ministry, Textiles and Jute Ministry, Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Ministry. She is the daughter of Mr. A.F.M. Safiyyullah and Ms.Jahanara Begum.

She studied BA (Hons) and MA in English and Certificate & diploma in French from Dhaka University.

She worked as a Sub-Editor from 1964 to1969 in Pakistan observer, Dhaka and from 1969 to 1971 worked as Senior Assistant Editor in ‘She’, published from Karachi, Pakistan. She was an Executive Vice President in Interspan Advertising Ltd, Dhaka from 1972 to 1974. She is the Chairman and Managing Director of Adcom Limited. She is serving as President of Advertising Agencies Association of Bangladesh and an individual member of Asian Federation of Advertising Association.

She writes articles in different newspapers and journals regularly. She is a lecturer in courses on Marketing, Sales, Management, Promotion and Advertising conducted by Bangladesh Management Development Centre, Dhaka and Chittagong Chamber & Commerce Press Institute, International University of Business Agriculture and Technology. She is the first lady executive committee member of Dhaka Club and became president of Dhaka Club from 2003 to 2005.

Geeteara Safiya Choudhury attended different seminars and conferences that includes - 2nd International Conference of Women Entrepreneurs, 1981 in New Delhi, 13th Asian Advertising Congress, 1982 in New Delhi, 14th Asian Advertising Congress, 1984 in Seoul, Third World Advertising Congress, 1987 in Beijing, Seminars for Women Entrepreneurs, 1990 in Stockholm, Adasia’99 Advertising Congress, 1999 in Thailand, Adasia 2003 Advertising Congress, 2003 in India, AdFest, Pattaya in Thailand from 2000 to 2006 etc.

She was honored by several awards including Annanya Award 1995, Priyadarshini Award 1999, The Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World 2000, The Outstanding Women in Business of the year 2002 and Life Time Achievement Award from Dhaka Ad Club,

She visited USA, Europe, UK, Africa, Middle East, Japan, China, Thailand and some other countries.

Geeteara Safiya Choudhury and her husband Mr. Nazim Kamran Choudhury have two children.
